The Fleet Manager will oversee the day-to-day management of our trucking fleet in a fast-paced logistics environment, ensuring all vehicles are maintained to the highest safety and performance standards, fully comply with applicable regulations, and operate with maximum efficiency and minimal downtime.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the maintenance, repair, and overall operational efficiency of the company’s entire fleet, including trucks, trailers, and related equipment.
  • Schedule and prioritize repairs, preventive maintenance programs, routine inspections, and compliance checks to minimize vehicle downtime and maximize fleet availability.
  • Ensure all vehicles meet or exceed DOT, FMCSA, and other relevant federal/state regulatory standards; maintain detailed, accurate, and up-to-date records of inspections, maintenance logs, repairs, and compliance documentation.
  • Develop, monitor, and manage the fleet maintenance budget—controlling costs effectively while upholding high service quality and reliability.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with parts suppliers, external repair shops, service providers, and vendors to secure timely, high-quality, and cost-effective support.
  • Supervise, mentor, and lead a team of mechanics, technicians, and support staff; perform regular performance evaluations, deliver ongoing training, and foster professional development.
  • Manage parts inventory and supply chain—ensuring optimal stock levels, minimizing overstock/understock issues, and maintaining precise record-keeping.
  • Utilize fleet management software and telematics systems to monitor vehicle performance metrics, track maintenance schedules, analyze repair histories, and generate actionable reports.
  • Champion and enforce a proactive safety culture throughout the maintenance team and all fleet operations, including regular safety briefings, incident reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to enhance fleet efficiency, reduce operating costs, lower fuel consumption, extend vehicle life cycles, and improve overall service quality.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience in fleet management, vehicle maintenance supervision, or a closely related role within the trucking, transportation, or logistics industry (additional years or supervisory experience strongly preferred).
  • Strong practical knowledge of heavy-duty truck and trailer maintenance/repair practices.
  • Solid understanding of DOT, FMCSA, and other key transportation regulations.
  • Proficiency with fleet management software, maintenance tracking systems, and basic Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook).

  • Ability to work in a dynamic, hands-on environment with occasional physical demands (e.g., shop inspections).
