For the needs of our Exploration department in Bor, we are currently looking to recruit a candidate for the Project Database Geologist position.
Role Purpose:
To support project and exploration team with data entry, importing, data extraction services and QAQC procedures under the guidance of Database Manager.
Description of responsibilities:
- Assist team leader with daily activities like data entry, data and template preparation, validations, Quality control, preparing procedures, coordinating with Geologists and LAB team;
- Compilation, migration and loading of collar, survey, sampling, assay, geological and related data into SQL database with best practice QAQC;
- Works with members of the exploration and Project teams to assist them in data compilation to finalize reports and other technical documents as required;
- Works with GIS team to build maps and figures for reports and presentations;
- Export data for weekly and monthly reports as requested by geoscientists;
- Create and maintain SQL/BI reports;
- Provide guidance to exploration geologist and other database users from Project department in the management, visualization and presentation data;
- Work to improve the data validation and interoperability between acQuire database applications;
- Responsible to maintain data integrity, completeness, maintain validations, raise red flag when issues are found, ensuring that data is organized logically and kept up to date;
- Create import objects, forms and client views for users to access data in a clear manner;
- Receive and validate data from various sources and upload them into the databases;
- Ensure that users are entering and presenting data in a correct and accurate manner;
- Ensure sustainable data entry and automatic task innovative data management tools are implemented;
- Actively participate and evaluate innovative tools and solutions via Data entry tools, Automation Tasks etc.;
- Guide the Database Geologist in all the daily activities like data entry, data & template preparation, validations, quality control;
- Assist and guide the Database geologist to gain confidence, learn and be able to perform daily tasks;
- Work with the geologists in assisting them with the connection to database import and exporting of the data and core images;
- Work with members of the exploration team to assist them in data compilation to finalize reports and other technical documents as required;
- Validates and makes corrections to captured data in consultation with Geologists;
- Respond to requests for information and access relevant files;
- Always perform job with high safety standards in office and field;
- Positively contributes to the Company’s safety culture;
- Follow operating procedures and complies with all regulatory requirements.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree with Geology or Geoscience;
- At least 5 years’ experience especially with databases;
- MS SQL experience;
- Data entry experience;
- Geological data understanding, relationship database understanding, Data entry of the drill hole and surface sample data;
- Proficient in relevant computer applications such as MS Office;
- Acquire data entry, MS SQL basic scripts, plan to be on site for experience in core logging & sampling, working with QGis, Geosoft & databases.
