For the needs of our Exploration department in Bor, we are currently looking to recruit a candidate for the Project Geologist position. The company provides an excellent opportunity to learn about exploration methodologies, and to gain invaluable experience with a modern and very active company.
Role Purpose:
Support the Senior Project/Exploration Geologist in the management, collection and interpretation of resource definition and ore-body knowledge data. Furthermore, ensure safe, cost effective, and environmentally and socially responsible conditions for all exploration and project development activities within Company policies and procedures
Description of responsibilities:
- Provide management and/or technical direction for small sized project and would include planning, prioritizing, researching, selection of technical approach, supervision and control of projects, analyze and interpret results, reporting.
- Conduct and supervise a variety of geological activities including RC/diamond drilling, geophysical programs, core logging, geological mapping, prospecting, and geochemical sampling programs.
- Obtaining project-related geologic information.
- Analyzing and interpreting field data, writing technical reports and contracts for drilling needs.
- Directing Environmental Drilling, field sampling activities, remediation system oversight and/or maintenance.
- Carry out and supervise the drill hole logging to ensure the accurate collection of data and in a safe and timely manner.
- Work directly with multiple project teams, review GIS/database requirements, ability to take decisions independently, enhance seamless interoperability, deliver data with high quality, data integrity.
- Works under more general supervision, would manage a small project (drilling, mapping, sampling, geophysics, geochemistry).
- Involved in project generation.
- Plan, coordinate and set weekly and daily plans to direct and guide teams on priorities and work requirements.
- Applies standard practices and techniques, interprets and correlates geologic and laboratory data, prepares cross-sections and geologic maps, develops conceptual geologic models, recognizes and resolves discrepancies in results using a systematic process.
- Perform data compilation and evaluation, report writing, GIS data analysis and management, geologic research, proposal development, and other related duties to drive and support project delivery.
- Compile geologic and assay data on plan maps, cross sections and in databases.
- Prepare 3D geological and mineral models.
- Ensure that geological information is updated in a timely and accurate manner.
- Coordinate with management and field staff in completing project schedules and adherence deadlines.
- Prepare, maintain and track project budgets, schedules, and reports needed to achieve project goals.
- Mentoring and supervision of the exploration team, coaching Junior Geologists to Exploration Geologists, geological technicians, liaising with contractors, and tracking budget expenditures.
- Monitors and report on QAQC of project data.
- Provides managers with expert analysis and advice on geological findings individually or from a team.
- Handles complex projects or issues which require significant coordination within and outside of the geological discipline.
- Supervise other geologists and ensure that geological goals for the group are met.
- Assists in economic analysis and suggest appropriate studies in relevant areas.
- Trouble-shoots problems and recommend solutions to issues.
- Responsible for all areas of Junior Geologists to Exploration Geologists but addresses more complex issues and is given more responsibility to reach conclusions and make recommendations.

Requirements:
Knowledge
- Working knowledge of several exploration methods, including geochemistry (stream, soil, rock sampling), geological mapping, geological logging of drill cores, line up drill rigs, 3D geology models, development of geological interpretation (sections and maps).
- Good working knowledge of data collection and management principles and systems;
- Strong familiarity with geologic field skills such as field mapping and identification of geologic hazards, and an understanding of geomorphology and surface processes;
- Excellent knowledge of GIS (Q-GIS, MapInfo) Geosoft Target, Leapfrog and software appropriate for sampling, mapping and drilling;
- Exposure to multiple terrains in several locations within a region and experience beyond a region.
- Project generation: terrain analysis and property evaluations for base metal and precious metals.
- Excellent knowledge on rock, minerals and structural feature description and identification;
Technical Skills
- Fluency in written and spoken English;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of applications, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint;
- Competent knowledge of GIS (Q-GIS, MapInfo), Geosoft Target, Leapfrog and other software appropriate for sampling, mapping and drilling;
- Proficient technical ability to design mapping points of geological data, to prepare the geological maps and sections and use geological databases and software;
- Analytical thinking, communication, initiative, energy, listening, practical learning, self-confidence, teamwork, tenacity.
- Judgement and risk-taking skills will have developed to higher level.
- Capable of taking project responsibility.
- Valid Driver’s License.
Education/Qualifications/Certificates: University Degree in Geology or Geoscience
Experience
- At least 6 – 7 years of relevant operational experience in the Geology environment that includes Exploration activity (stream, soil, mapping, rock chip sampling, geophysics, drilling) experience.
- Demonstrate in-depth hands-on experience in independent handling of GIS/database software;
- Experience using 3D Modelling and database software in addition to Microsoft Office Suite;
- Previous experience reporting exploration results.
- Excellent 4WD field driving experience.
