Jesuit Refugee Service - JRS

The Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) is an international organisation with a mission to accompany, serve and advocate on behalf of refugees and other forcibly displaced persons. Founded in November 1980 as a work of the Society of Jesus, JRS is today found in 50 countries, providing assistance to: refugees in camps and cities, individuals displaced within their own countries, asylum seekers in cities, and to those held in detention centres. The main areas of work are in the field of education, emergency assistance, healthcare, livelihood activities and social services.

Jesuit Refugee Service SouthEast Europe (JRS-SEE), a non-profit humanitarian association, is seeking to recruit an Psychologist on a 6 months probationary (with the possibility of extension) term contract to assess the needs of refugees and migrants, and to develop actions, practices and services for the refugees and other forcibly displaced persons.

Applicants must:

  • understand the role of faith-based organisation in humanitarian work and ensure its mission and values are envisioned in all the work
  • be willing to work with and for people from diverse cultures
  • have a degree in Psychology, or an equivalent/comparable qualification or working experience
  • have the ability to work in a team
  • be able to speak and write English fluently
  • knowledge of Arabic, Farsi, Pashto or Urdu language will be considered an asset
  • have a driving license

Previous experience working with refugees, migrants and/or asylum seekers will be considered an asset.
Job description

Position summary

The main responsibility of the Psychologist is the support of beneficiaries of Integration house established for most vulnerable categories of refugees and asylum seekers. Psychologist his duty executing in cooperation with other relevant staff, organize daily house life and activities. Also, she/hi is responsible for follow beneficiaries in field of his/her work.

Key responsibilities

  • participate in the preparation of the annual plan and program of the institution;
  • cooperate with the manager, teaching staff, pedagogue, social workers;
  • develop a plan for the health, social and environmental protection of beneficiaries;
  • develop a plan for psychological support;
  • keeping psychological record;
  • realize of various creative workshops for beneficiaries;
  • analysis of the results of personal development of beneficiaries.
  • regularly report to the Country Manager
  • work closely with social worker, pedagogue and other staff in House
  • participate to formation programmes useful for his/her responsibilities

Shortlisted candidates will be required to attend an interview and to undertake a number of tasks, before a final decision is taken. All candidates will receive the answer to their application by May 19th 2017.
