Your main purpose is
To be responsible for control, supervision, and coordination of manufacturing operations associated with all welding, and welding-related activities.
Key Responsibilities and Duties

DIMENSIONS
- Ensure compliance with Business Management Systems: (ISO 9001, ISO 3834-2, EN 15085-2 and DIN 2303), including all other standards and specification where mandated / required, by acting as the Responsible Welding Coordinator, and meeting the responsibilities defined in ISO 14731
- Ensure applicable records are maintained and traceable through the effective application of applicable Management System(s)
- Develop and maintain Welding Procedures, and supporting Welding Procedure Qualification records, ensuring the organisation meets with the prescribed requirements
- Actively engage and support the Technical Review and Production Planning processes from a welding perspective, ensuring appropriate procedures and controls are established
- Ensure WPS’s, WPQR’s, and essential documentation is maintained and available to Welding Personnel
- Maintain and review welding personnel competency matrices, to ensure appropriate skillsets and competencies are readily available and appropriately deployed
- Conduct audits of sub-contract capabilities when required, to determine their suitability and capability to support the business’s welding requirements
- Perform routinely scheduled Safety, Environmental (5s), and compliancy patrol inspections, ensuring appropriate measures are applied within the Welding and Production areas
- Facilitate improvement through the appropriate Continual Improvement programme(s), applying industry tools; Kaizen, LEAN, 5S, etc., through team participation
- Develop and maintain performance tracking documents, ensuring KPI’s are being reviewed daily, including actively contributing to, and performing ‘Root Cause’ investigations in relation to non-conformance reports
- Supervise Welding Personnel with preparation for complex tasks
- Coordinate Pre, Interim, and Post Welding Quality Control inspection and testing by monitoring and supporting the capabilities of the welding inspection processes and equipment with appropriate training, documentation, procedures, and calibration controls
- Engage with compliance team to ensure alignment and full integration of management systems
Qualifications
- CSWIP National Accreditation 3.1 Welding Inspector
- A relevant Fabrication and Welding HNC or Higher Further Learning
ESSENTIAL
- Held a similar position with the minimum 5 years’ experience within engineering and / or fabrication environment
- Current experience of working with international regulatory standards; ISO 9001, 3834, and EN 15085, or equivalent
- Experience of developing and implementing welding related procedures and Management Systems in accordance with EN 15085, / ISO 3834 accreditations
- Quality aware and experience of working within a customer focused environment
- Working independently, decisively, applying strong judgement, and effective problem solving
- Strong commercial acumen and a proven track record in operating at a strategic level
- Application of numerical and IT skills, and proficient with the use of Microsoft Windows packages
DESIRABLE
- Qualified as either an: International Welding Engineer (IWE) or International Welding Technologist (IWT)
- Registered with the Engineering Council as an Incorporated Engineer (IEng)
- Qualified / current experience of using Lean Six Sigma
- Planning experience, NPI, and product life cycle
- Experience of Defence (AQAP’s Mil-Std’s), Rail (RIS), and Automotive (IATF), Standards
