Location: Belgrade, Hybrid (Currently, we are three days per week in the office, subject to change)
We're looking for a Senior Accountant to work as part of CompStak's growing Operations team in Serbia and our Finance department in New York. This position should perform a variety of accounting activities in accordance with accounting principles and standards to control the organization’s financial resources and ensure that it complies with all relevant regulations, laws and reporting requirements.
Responsibilities
- Support in statutory accounting:
- Setting-up of the accounting system
- Creating an appropriate Serbian Chart of Accounts
- Day-to-day accounting entries of the transactional data in the accounting system
- Maintenance of journal ledgers, general ledger and sub-ledgers prescribed by the Serbian accounting laws and regulations.
- Support in VAT compliance:
- Establishment and maintenance of the mandatory VAT records prescribed by the Serbian VAT regulations (Book of incoming and Outgoing Invoices);
- Preparation and filing of the VAT returns to the Serbian Tax Administration for and on behalf of the CompStak.
- Support in payroll compliance:
- Crreation of the CompStak's payroll database; payroll calculation;
- Preparation of monthly tax returns for the social security and salary tax; assistance with preparation of the payment orders for monthly payroll;
- Registrations and deregistration of employees with relevant regulatory authorities and social security funds;
- "Year-end compliance": Preparation of annual certificates on the total amount of annual salary and taxes paid; preparation of the annual confirmation on the social security contributions paid in relation to CompStak's employees.
- Support in the annual financial reporting:
- Preparation of the CompStak preliminary and final annual statutory financial statements (annual balance sheet, income statement, and accompanying documents and statistical reports) prescribed by the Serbian accounting laws and regulations.
- Support in the preparation of the annual corporate income tax (CIT) and other services
- Calculation of the annual CIT indicating: taxable revenues, tax-deductible expenses, non¬ deductible expenses, taxable profit/loss, and tax due for the given period;
- Preparation of the annual CIT return and tax balance and supporting schedules substantiating differences between the financial statements and annual CIT computation;
- Preparation of the withholding tax returns for withholding tax which the Client is required to pay on specific types of income in accordance with the Corporate Income Tax Law;
- Work in conjunction with parent company:
- Close books on a monthly basis
- Create reporting materials for CEO and other stakeholders
- Assist with consolidation of financials/US G
Requirements
- 10 years experience (ACCA/CPA Certification would be considered an advantage)
- Experience with BizSoft and NetSuite
- Strong financial and management accounting background
- Comprehensive knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP. Knowledge of German GAAP is considered an advantage
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
- Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
- Excellent MS Excel skills
- Fluent in English (both written and oral),
- Comfortable with working autonomously and from home
- Ability to meet deadlines
