Senior Engineer of Experimental Systems

Job Description:

About 50% of the working time the Senior Engineer deals with the maintenance of equipment; other 50% of the time the employee participates in processing of carbon nanomaterials controlling the system and monitoring their operating parameters.

Key responsibilities:

• The Senior Engineer of Experimental Systems controls and maintains the operation of the experimental system (high-temperature furnaces, gas flow controllers, pipelines, shut-off valves, the feeders of basic and auxiliary raw materials, sensors of temperature and pressure, other equipment). Under the instructions of the scientific supervisor prepares this equipment for the experiments of various kinds.
• Monitors the operation of equipment during the experiments based on the indications of control and measuring devices, and knowledge of technical features of process. Forecasts and prevents equipment failures.
• Suggests and implements process improvements to enhance its efficiency and safety. Undertakes additional necessary technical training.
• Collaborates with external staff, including machine operators and technicians, to achieve goals of experiments and resolve operational problems. Develops and/or updates the process instructions, other normative and technical documentation.
• Follows all safety protocols, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Reports any safety hazards or incidents to the scientific supervisor. Observes the requirements of labour protection and industrial safety.

Required qualifications and experience:

• Higher physical or technical education.
• Skills in operating with chemical equipment: high-temperature furnaces and/or chemical reactors, gas feeding systems.
• Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel), basic knowledge of computer graphic soft.
• Good knowledge of English language. Knowledge of Russian language is welcome.
• At least 3-years of experience of working in technological production or in experimental natural sciences.
• Experience working with systems for automation is welcome.
• Have a high level of attentiveness, neatness, punctuality.
• Diligence, communication skills. Possessing high-level stress tolerance.
