About the Role (Mission of the role):
The Senior Retention Product Manager mission is to deeply understand customer use cases & being obsessed about customer needs & help shape a strategic product roadmap, solving core customer challenges and deliver features/changes that will lower churn/increase retention.
This role combines strategic product thinking with hands-on product execution and is essential to the future of the business. You will own retention and subscription monetization through your contribution.
This is a fractional (20 hrs/week) engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and Execute the Retention Strategy: Own the roadmap for reducing voluntary and involuntary churn. Create segmentation-driven retention journeys across seller types and lifecycle stages.
- Improve Activation & Onboarding: Increase the percentage of new users who reach meaningful product value by identifying friction points and redesigning the activation journey. Design and iterate on a frictionless onboarding flow that helps users quickly understand core use cases and achieve their first success moment.
- Reduce time-to-value KPI: Systematically shorten the time between signup and first meaningful outcome by removing blockers and aligning product flows with real user intent.
- Improve first-week engagement: Increase early product engagement by introducing behavioral triggers, education loops, and feature adoption pathways that drive habitual usage within the first 7 days.
You’ll be a great fit if you have the following hard skills:
- Retention & Subscription Analytics: You deeply understand subscription metrics (cohorts, retention curves, LTV, churn segmentation, expansion revenue, ARPU, payback period). You can independently run cohort analysis, identify churn drivers by segment (behavioral, pricing, technical, persona-based), and turn insights into product features.
- Product Discovery & Customer Research: You run continuous discovery — including user interviews, JTBD analysis, churn interviews, cancellation surveys, and rapid validation experiments. You know how to separate symptoms from root problems.
- Activation & Onboarding Optimization: You specialize in reducing time-to-value. You can map user journeys, identify friction points, improve first-session success, and increase early engagement through behavioral triggers, nudges, lifecycle messaging, and product-led interventions.
- Data Fluency & Self-Serve Analytics: You are highly hands-on with product analytics tools. You define tracking frameworks, build dashboards, validate instrumentation, and use data to prioritize roadmap decisions without waiting on others.
You’ll be a great fit if you have the following career background:
- 5+ years of experience in B2C SaaS subscription-based products.
- 5+ years of experience reducing churn (must provide examples with numbers) in past companies.
- 5+ years of experience working closely with data (Including product analytics tools)
- 5+ years of experience of mapping the user-journey and breaking it down into segments, as part of a B2C user journey
- Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
You’ll not be a great fit if you have the following criteria (What we are not looking for):
- Enterprise SaaS-only background
- Senior executive (VP/Head) who does not execute hands-on.
