The Donau Soja Organisation is an independent, international, non-profit, multistakeholder organization aiming to effectively meet protein market demand and to provide a baseline for the development of high-quality soy cultivation in the Danube region (www.donausoja.org). The Organization seat is in Vienna, Austria, with regional/country offices in Novi Sad, Kiev and Chisinau.

Strategic Partnership Programme Donau Soja has a long-lasting cooperation with Austrian Development Agency (ADA) within Strategic Partnership Programme. This position will be (partly) related to implementation of this Programme.

Donau Soja d.o.o. Novi Sad is recruiting the Software Product owner

Your future role:
In this function, you will be based in Novi Sad and work in an international, Englishspeaking environment. You will be responsible for the end-to-end management of the organisation’s software product, acting as the central interface between business teams,
users, IT service providers, and external partners.

Duties/Responsibilities/Tasks:

  • Product Development & Planning
    • Define and maintain the product development and roadmap
    • Translate business and user needs into clear product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria for IT partner developers
    • Lead internally Product development with Internal Business and Product teams to insure continues adjustments for market and business needs
    • Prioritize features, enhancements, and bug fixes based on value, risk, and resources.
    • Align product development with commercial, legal, and operational requirements.
    • Responsible for Selection of IT and solution providers working on the software
    • Closely Monitor the work of It solution providers and select most appropriate providers for relevant tasks
  • Software Development & Delivery
    • Manage the development of new software features, including:
      • Preparing and delivering clear development briefs.
      • Collecting and evaluating offers from IT service providers
      • Coordinating feature scope, timelines, and deliverables.
      • Monitoring progress, effort, and milestones.
      • Reviewing and approving technical documentation, user stories, and
      • deliverables.
    • Support contract annexes related to feature development and scope changes.
    • Coordinate closely with internal teams (stakeholder, finance) during development.
  • Testing, Quality Assurance & Release Management
    • Plan and coordinate software testing, including:
      • Functional testing of new features.
      • Regression testing of existing functionalities.
      • User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with internal and external users.
    • Collect, consolidate, and communicate structured feedback to the IT service provider.
    • Ensure quality standards are met and maintained in the production version,
    • including stability, performance, and usability.
    • Approve releases and ensure quality standards are met before deployment.
    • Maintain release notes and change logs in Jira or other programs.
    • Tracking of AWS consumption and packages
  • Maintenance, Support & Bug Management
    • Act as focal point between users and IT service provider for:
      • Bug reporting, triage, and prioritization.
      • Incident and issue resolution.
    • Monitor system performance and recurring issues.
    • Coordinate maintenance activities and ensure timely fixes.
  • User & Account Management
    • Manage opening, modification, and deactivation of licensed user accounts.
    • Maintain oversight of user access rights and license usage.
    • Support onboarding of new users and organizations.
  • Documentation & Training
    • Create, maintain, and update product documentation, including:
      • User manuals and guides.
      • Training materials and internal documentation.
    • Organize and deliver internal and external trainings and user trainings.
    • Support users with guidance and documentation.
  • Commercial, Legal & Compliance Support
    • Support in maintenance of Software related contract templates, including:
      • Reseller agreements.
      • SaaS contracts.
      • GDPR-related documents (DPA, SPA)
      • NDAs
    • Provide product-related input to legal and commercial discussions.
    • Ensure product compliance with GDPR and data protection requirements.
  • Invoicing & Financial Coordination
    • Provide accurate product and usage information for invoicing.
    • Support finance with license data, pricing structures, and billing logic.
    • Track development and maintenance costs against budgets.
  • Stakeholder Communication & Product Promotion
    • Present technical software functionalities in meetings with:
      • Potential users, Partners and resellers, Internal stakeholders.
    • Collect feedback from users and stakeholders and translate it into product improvements.
    • Support sales and business development with product knowledge and demos. 
  • Continuous Improvement & Reporting
    • Monitor product KPIs (usage, adoption, issues, satisfaction).
    • Regularly collect and evaluate user feedback through surveys and direct interactions.
    • Maintain an ongoing overview of the competitive landscape, including:
      • Monitoring competing software solutions and market trends.
      • Comparing features, pricing models, and positioning.
    • Propose and prioritize product improvements based on user needs, quality results, and competitive insights.
    • Prepare regular product status updates and reports for management.

Job requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Business Informatics, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of professional experience in Product Management, Software Project Management, or a comparable role in software development.
  • Proven experience managing external IT service providers or software development partners.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing the full software lifecycle (requirements → development → testing → release → maintenance).
  • experience in defining product roadmaps and translating business needs into technical requirements.
  • Experience writing user stories, acceptance criteria, and development briefs.
  • Experience using project and issue tracking tools (e.g., Jira or similar).
  • Understanding of cloud-based software environments (e.g., AWS or similar infrastructure).
  • Solid understanding of software architecture concepts, APIs, SaaS models, and system integrations.
  • Ability to review and understand technical documentation.
  • Experience working with SaaS business models and licensing structures.
  • Strong coordination and negotiation skills with external IT providers.
  • Excellent written and spoken English (mandatory)
