Job Overview:
As a Carrier Sales Manager - Freight Broker, you will play a critical role in developing and maintaining relationships with carriers, negotiating rates, and ensuring that we have the right carrier partners to meet our customers’ needs. This position requires excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills to drive success in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carrier Recruitment: Identify and onboard new carriers to expand our network, ensuring we have a diverse and reliable base of transportation providers.
- Carrier Relationship Management: Cultivate strong, long-term relationships with carriers to ensure they are satisfied, responsive, and committed to partnering with us.
- Rate Negotiation: Negotiate competitive rates and establish favorable terms with carriers to maximize profitability while ensuring quality service delivery.
- Load Matching: Collaborate with the operations and sales teams to match available loads with the best-suited carriers, ensuring efficient and timely deliveries.
- Problem Resolution: Proactively address any issues or delays that arise during transit, working with carriers to find solutions and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Performance Tracking: Monitor carrier performance, including on-time delivery and service quality, and maintain accurate records of all transactions.
- Market Analysis: Stay up-to-date with market trends, competitor pricing, and other relevant data to make informed decisions and maintain competitive advantage.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in freight brokerage, logistics, dispatching, trucking or carrier sales (2+ years preferred).
- Strong understanding of freight operations, industry trends, and carrier dynamics.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with carriers, vendors, and internal teams.
- Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Knowledge of transportation management software (TMS - Aljex) is a plus.
