Chief Accountant

Position overview

In this role, you will work with your team to partner closely with business leaders from across the company, have a direct impact on the financial strategy, provide expert advice, and take responsibility for tax and financial compliance with Serbian laws.

As a Chief Accountant, you will be responsible for providing insight and decision support to heads of departments and senior leadership teams.

This position encompasses managing company financial statements, taxes, budgeting, and forecasting, scenario modeling, monitoring company expenditures, and payroll.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and support the accounting team in day-to-day accounting activities
• Prepare and file the VAT returns, monthly tax returns for the social security and salary tax, and withholding tax returns to the Serbian Tax Administration
• Prepare annual CIT return and tax balance and supporting schedules substantiating differences between the financial statements and annual CIT computation
• Prepare and file preliminary and final monthly and annual statutory financial statements
• Support in any kind of accounting and tax audits which may be performed by the relevant Serbian authorities and third-party auditors
• Payroll calculation and execution to bank accounts
• Cash flow management
• Own the company’s budgeting and forecasting process
• Maintain and support the Company’s internal systems

Requirements

• 5+ years’ experience in finance/FP&A function, budgeting and sound financial skills
• Strong knowledge of Serbian laws and legislation
• The ability to challenge, support, and collaborate with senior stakeholders
• Excellent analytical/numerical skills – including strong attention to details and advanced Excel skills
• Strong stakeholder management skills, a team player, independent and self-sufficient, able to cope effectively under pressure
• Ability to effectively prioritize your work
• Advanced knowledge of Serbian and English

Nice to have

• Finance/Accounting qualification (e.g. ACCA , CFA or CPA)
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
