Position Overview

We are looking for a Course Development Project Manager to lead the design, development, and launch of our new training programs in cybersecurity and related professional certifications (e.g., CISSP, CCSP, CISM, CISA, CCSK, CIPM, CIPP, etc.). In this role, you will build and maintain the “playbook” for course creation—from concept to delivery—and guide instructional Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and cross-functional teams through each step of the process.

You will oversee multiple courses in parallel, orchestrating tasks, timelines, and quality checks to ensure consistent, high-quality, and engaging learning materials. A key component of your role will be ensuring alignment with best practices in instructional design while coordinating with a diverse set of stakeholders, such as an expert instructor for a specific certification, slide designers, illustrators, writers, copy editors, video production experts, and AI specialists.

Responsibilities

1. Playbook Development & Maintenance

  • Develop a comprehensive “playbook” that outlines the entire course development process—from ideation to final delivery.
  • Define and document standards, templates, and guidelines (e.g., slide formats, workbook structures, quiz question design) for SMEs and other contributors.
  • Continuously improve the playbook based on feedback and project outcomes.

2. Course Development & Coordination

  • Work with expert instructors / Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to create:
    • Detailed course outlines
    • Engaging and fun PowerPoint slides
    • Student workbook (precisely aligned with the slides)
    • Knowledge assessment questions, flashcards, and multiple-choice practice questions
    • MindMap review videos and supplementary study aids
    • Guidebook(s)
    • Entire recorded on-demand class
  • Ensure that every piece of content adheres to the playbook’s specifications, branding, and quality standards.

3. Project Management

  • Plan, schedule, and manage multiple course development projects in parallel, creating timelines and key milestones.
  • Monitor project progress, identify risks or bottlenecks, and proactively resolve issues.
  • Keep expert instructors / SMEs, designers, writers, and other contributors accountable for deliverables within agreed timelines.
  • Track and report on project status to senior leadership and stakeholders.

4. Quality Assurance & Review

  • Establish review cycles involving SMEs, peer reviewers, and other stakeholders.
  • Oversee editing and proofreading of written materials, including slides, student workbooks, and guidebooks.
  • Coordinate internal and external feedback loops to maintain accuracy and ensure awesome courses are created.

5. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with slide designers, illustrators, video production teams, and AI experts to create course materials.
  • Work with copy editors, writers, and reviewers to maintain consistent style, tone, and technical accuracy.
  • Coordinate with marketing and sales teams to align final course products with marketing strategies.

6. Innovation & Continuous Improvement

  • Leverage emerging technologies (such as generative AI) to improve course quality and efficiency of development.
  • Stay up-to-date on industry trends in cybersecurity, data privacy, and professional certifications.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance learner engagement and retention through new instructional methods and tools.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Project Management, Cybersecurity, or related field (Master’s degree a plus).
  • 5+ years of experience managing complex training or curriculum development projects.
  • Demonstrated success leading cross-functional teams and delivering large-scale courseware.

Project Management Skills

  • Strong organizational, planning, and prioritization skills.
  • Experience using project management software (e.g., ClickUp, Asana, Trello, Monday.com, Jira) to track tasks and timelines.
  • PMP or similar certification is a plus.

Instructional Design Knowledge

  • Understanding of adult learning principles, best practices in e-learning, and learning technology trends.

Technical & Communication Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to convey complex ideas simply and clearly.
  • Comfort with facilitating reviews of highly technical content in cybersecurity, data privacy, or related fields.

Soft Skills

  • Strong stakeholder management and collaboration abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and accuracy.
  • Agile mindset with ability to adapt to shifting priorities.
