Headquartered in City of Industry, California, ACN has global offices in New Jersey, the United Kingdom (as MLM Ltd.), The Netherlands, Japan, South Korea, and China. Since 2001, ACN has consistently been the top American exporter to China. Our international presence and operational scale support a critical role in global recycling and logistics.
Position Summary
The Logistics & Operations Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth execution of ACN’s international logistics, with a primary focus on shipments from Europe to Asia. This role is based in Serbia and supports teams in the UK and the Netherlands. You will serve as the operational backbone—coordinating container movements (mostly by ocean, occasionally by land), resolving daily issues, and ensuring that sales contracts are fulfilled efficiently and compliantly. You’ll collaborate across sourcing, vendor management, and operational planning teams while continuously seeking improvement opportunities in workflow, systems, and vendor performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage transportation operations, predominantly deep-sea ocean freight and occasionally inland freight (truck, rail), ensuring optimal routing, carrier booking, and schedule adherence.
- Troubleshoot and resolve logistics issues including vessel delays, container inspections, and time-sensitive deliveries, ensuring compliance with customs and environmental regulations.
- Execute export operations in collaboration with the broader logistics team.
- Support vendor management through strong communication, KPI tracking, and service performance evaluations with shipping lines, forwarders, and other providers.
- Work cross-functionally with buyers, operations teams, and logistics colleagues to streamline processes and support global supply chain initiatives.
- Contribute to continuous improvement, digitization, and change initiatives to optimize logistics efficiency and scalability.
- Maintain accurate records, proactively communicate updates to internal stakeholders, and drive alignment on shipping timelines and constraints.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, International Trade, or a related field.
- 2–4 years of experience in logistics, transportation, or supply chain management with international operations exposure.
- Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel and Outlook).
- Strong understanding of European and UK export regulations, container operations, and customs compliance.
- Proven ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced, high-volume logistics environment (e.g., managing 300+ containers per week).
- Excellent communication and coordination skills across time zones and teams.
- Fluent in English, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Analytical, organized, and detail-oriented, with the ability to quickly identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Demonstrated adaptability, resilience, and ownership mindset in dynamic settings.
Preferences
- Hands-on experience with vessel planning, inland freight operations, or ocean booking strategy.
- Experience working with freight forwarders, carriers, and third-party logistics providers.
- Exposure to process improvement or logistics digitization projects.
- Additional language skills are a strong asset (Dutch, German, Spanish, French, Italian).
Success Profile: What Great Looks Like
- Operational Rigor - Executes international logistics with discipline and attention to detail. Tracks container milestones, confirms documentation, and manages carrier communications.
- Problem Solver - Proactively handles vessel delays, customs blocks, and urgent fulfillment gaps with quick thinking and calm urgency.
-
Cross-Functional Agility - Collaborates across sourcing, vendors, and operations to resolve issues and optimize end-to-end delivery.
-
Vendor Partnership - Maintains strong relationships with carriers and 3PLs, aligned to KPIs and service performance standards.
- Process Improver - Suggests system and workflow upgrades that create visible efficiencies in booking, tracking, and communication.
- Communication - Clear and timely communicator, especially when coordinating across time zones and shifting priorities.
-
Ownership Mindset - Tackles problems directly and follows through. Doesn't wait for someone else to fix it.
