Position Overview

The Senior Server and Storage Analyst is a technical and analytical role responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of an organization's server and storage infrastructure. This includes managing both physical and virtualized server environments, storage area networks (SAN), network-attached storage (NAS), and backup and recovery systems. As a senior-level position, this role acts as a subject matter expert (SME), leads projects, mentors junior staff, and performs advanced troubleshooting to ensure the high availability and performance of all server and storage systems.

Key Responsibilities

1. System Administration and Support

• Provide expert-level operational support for the server and storage environment, including administration of Windows, Linux, and Unix operating systems. Respond to, diagnose, and resolve complex issues and incidents in a timely manner.

2. Design and Implementation

• Lead the design and implementation of new server and storage solutions, ensuring all projects align with technical, security, and business requirements. This includes planning for future capacity needs and evolving technical demands.

3. Performance and Capacity Management

• Proactively monitor system performance, troubleshoot bottlenecks, and manage capacity to ensure optimal efficiency and availability. Develop and maintain processes for capacity planning and performance reporting.

4. Data Protection and Disaster Recovery

• Design, configure, and manage data backup, recovery, and replication strategies. Perform regular testing and support disaster recovery exercises to ensure data integrity and business continuity.

5. Project Leadership

• Act as a lead for server and storage projects, managing timelines, coordinating with stakeholders, and overseeing the quality of technical deliverables.

6. Collaboration and Mentorship

• Work closely with cross-functional IT teams, such as network and security engineers, to deliver integrated solutions. Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and training to junior team members.

7. Documentation and Procedures

• Create and maintain accurate, detailed documentation for all server and storage configurations, processes, and procedures. This includes developing low-level design (LLD) documents and technical support guides.

8. Vendor Management

• Liaise with vendors and third-party support providers for technical issues, hardware procurement, and to stay abreast of new technologies.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Language: English Level B2 or better
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Experience: A minimum of 5–8 years of experience in server and storage administration within an enterprise environment.
• Technical Skills:
  • Servers: Extensive experience with Windows and/or Linux server operating systems and administration of virtualized environments (e.g., VMware vSphere, Hyper-V).
  • Storage: Proven expertise with SAN and NAS technologies from major vendors (e.g., Dell EMC, NetApp, HP). Experience with Fibre Channel, iSCSI, and storage management tools is essential.
  • Backup and Recovery: In-depth knowledge of enterprise-level backup and recovery solutions.
  • Networking: Strong foundational knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) as they relate to server and storage systems.
• Certifications: Professional certifications, such as Dell EMC Proven Professional, VMware Certified Professional (VCP), or other relevant vendor certifications, are preferred.
