About the Job
ALPINE Bulk Materials Handling is looking for junior and intermediate field engineers (mechanical, structural) to join our growing global team. We offer training and development in a highly specialized and in-demand field of bulk materials handling, with focus on providing equipment lifecycle services to our global clients.
Job Description
Field Service EIT will undergo a comprehensive training program at ALPINE’s Competence Center in Leoben, Austria, combined with hands-on field training at our project sites. During this time, EIT is expected to provide technical support to the Project Engineering team in execution of projects and assist with site inspections of material handling / mining equipment.
After successfully completing the training program, the role will grow into Field Service Engineer position, with permanent relocation to one of international ALPINE offices (e.g. Canada, Australia, Austria) to support local and regional clients with technical expertise.
Main Responsibilities
Assist senior project engineers with equipment site inspections and various engineering design tasks:
- Prepare layout studies, equipment drawings and preliminary construction drawings in compliance with process and client requirements.
- Prepare Technical Specifications for Material Handling / Mining Equipment based on external and/or internal requirements.
- Evaluate effects of changes and modifications to form and function of the material handling / mining equipment.
- Evaluate supplier proposal regarding compliance with technical specification and budget.
- Draft technical reports in accordance with findings from field inspections and engineering evaluations.
- Perform various hands-on technical tasks at customer sites (inspections, field measurements, data gathering, etc.) in support of projects, under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures.
Qualifications
- A degree in mechanical or structural engineering from a recognized university or technical college.
- Strong technical ability in mechanical or structural engineering disciplines.
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings and various other technical information.
- Solid command of AutoDesk applications and drafting skills.
- Open minded and creative attitude, displaying strong initiative.
- Willing to work at heights and in confined space (training will be provided).
- Basic understanding of ALPINE’s Product and Service portfolio.
- Customer service focus.
- Excellent communication skills and strong oral and written command of English language (additional languages will be considered an asset).
- Flexibility and willingness to travel international to project sites (e.g. Australia, North America). International travel and remote work are expected to consume about 20-40% of total working time.
- Willingness to potentially relocate to one of our main offices in Austria, Australia or Canada after the training program.
- Professional experience, preferably with material handling and/or mining equipment. This is not mandatory but will be considered an asset.
