Stara Planina Resources d.o.o., part of the Mundoro Group of Companies, is looking to hire a GIS and Database Specialist to be based out of the Company’s office in Bor, Serbia. Mundoro Capital Inc. (the “Company”) is a publicly listed company on the TSX-V in Canada and OTCQB in the USA with a portfolio of mineral properties focused on primarily base metals. The Company’s portfolio of mineral properties is currently focused on predominantly copper in two mineral districts: Western Tethyan Belt in Eastern Europe and the Laramide Belt in the southwest USA.
The Opportunity
- The GIS and Database Specialist position will be an integral member of the Exploration team in the discovery of deposits.
- This position is ideally suited for an individual who has either worked in the exploration division of an exploration or mining company and is seeking professional growth in an entrepreneurial, discovery driven environment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out a variety of assignments and providing support in multiple areas of the exploration programs, such as but not limited to:
- Maintenance of up-to date geoscientific databases for various exploration programs of the Company;
- Build maps from geological, geophysical, geographical and other spatial data, according to requirements;
- QA/QC of geological and geochemical data as well as data validation of exploration GIS datasets; reporting on QA/QC work;
- Sourcing and integration of geoscientific data, from various platforms;
- Support of specialised data management and GIS software;
- Development and implementation of data management and GIS procedures;
- Providing of training to users in the use of GIS systems; and
- Any additional related duties as may be assigned.
Candidate Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Mining or Earth Sciences;
- Direct experience of 5+ years;
- Flexibility to work on a rotation schedule between field offices and home office;
- Ability to communicate and work effectively as part of a team.
- Proficiency in the geoscientific use of GIS systems (QGIS, MapInfo and/or ArcGIS);
- Proficiency in geoscientific database systems;
- Good knowledge of the mineral exploration workflows (sampling, core logging, laboratory analysis, QA/QC, etc.) and their respective data and information management workflows;
- Experience in specialised software such as Leapfrog, MicroMine, Strater, etc. will be considered an advantage;
- Basic knowledge of, or exposure to data science programming and learning algorithms;
- Ability to travel (including internationally) and support the exploration teams during field surveys, sampling and drilling campaigns, etc.;
- Fluency in Serbian and English.
