Position Summary:

We are seeking a proactive, highly organized, and independent Human Resources Manager for limited period of time during maternity cover, with possibility for full time employment.

This position will oversee the full HR function for our Serbian office. The role combines operational HR duties with strategic responsibilities, including close collaboration with the Managing Director and key stakeholders from our central office in Germany. The ideal candidate will be confident in managing a wide scope of responsibilities — from recruitment and compliance to cultural initiatives and cross-border cooperation.

Key Responsibilities:

Core HR Responsibilities 

  • Maintain accurate HR records and ensure compliance with local labor laws;
  • Oversee payroll coordination, benefits administration, and employee documentation;
  • Lead performance evaluation cycles and support managers in employee development;
  • Manage full-cycle recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding processes.

Employee Experience & Internal Culture

  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and productive work environment;
  • Serve as the go-to person for employee concerns, feedback, and engagement;
  • Organize internal events, team-building activities, and informal gatherings;
  • Promote company values, employee recognition, and well-being initiatives;
  • Lead internal communication practices to strengthen transparency and cohesion.

Strategic Projects (Owned by HR)

  • Lead GDPR compliance initiatives and maintain documentation standards;
  • Build and execute employer branding strategies in cooperation with marketing;
  • Standardize and maintain internal HR procedures and policies;
  • Maintain collaboration initiatives with German leadership to strengthen cross-country cooperation and alignment between Serbia and Germany.

Cross-Border & Third-Party Collaboration

  • Communicate regularly with Central HR (Germany) for alignment on policies, processes, tools, and reporting;
  • Communicate with coulegues from Nearshore (Poland, Grece, Hungary, Romania);
  • Coordinate with external vendors: health & safety providers, insurance partners, legal consultants, and training providers;
  • Manage equipment imports and customs procedures in collaboration with logistics and vendors abroad;
  • Serve as the HR point of contact for audits, compliance, and local legal consultations.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of HR generalist experience (with at least 2 in standalone role);
  • Strong knowledge of Serbian labor law; GDPR familiarity required;
  • Experience with international HR collaboration and reporting;
  • Excellent communication skills in both Serbian and English (German is a strong plus);
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and think strategically;
  • Hands-on attitude with high attention to detail and problem-solving mindset;
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, multicultural environment.
