As a Cost Engineer, you will play a central role in translating customer inquiries into viable, profitable production concepts. Working across departments and in close coordination with sales and project management teams, your work will lay the foundation for competitive offers, optimized production flows, and sustainable profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and break down incoming customer inquiries for relevant departments
- Assess technical and commercial requirements; define and document offer assumptions
- Calculate costs for plastic injection-molded components and complete assemblies
- Design process flows and define assembly steps, including machine group selection
- Determine key process parameters (cycle time, takt time, staffing levels, scrap rates)
- Support sales and project teams in customer negotiations and offer preparation
- Prepare profitability calculations and provide input to strategic pricing decisions
Your Profile
- Proven experience in cost calculation or technical sales support
- Deep understanding of technical feasibility assessments
- Degree in mechanical engineering, plastics technology, or related technical field (engineer or certified technician)
- Business/economic training is a strong plus
- Solid knowledge of plastic injection molding and assembly processes
- Familiarity with painting and surface finishing technologies is an advantage
- Strong communication and negotiation skills; ability to work independently
- Advanced Excel skills
- Fluent in English
