Dundee Precious Metals is a Canadian-based, international mining company engaged in the acquisition, exploration, development, mining, and processing of precious metals. DPM operates across Serbia, Bulgaria, and Ecuador with headquarters in Toronto, Canada.
For the needs of our Exploration department in Bor, we are currently looking to recruit a candidate for the Lab Technician Analytical Assay position.
Role Purpose:
To perform chemical analyses on various geological samples submitted to the laboratory, in order to determine the concentration of various elements, in compliance with all laboratory methods and procedures set out by the Company.
Description of responsibilities:
- Holds responsibility for the qualitative and qualitative chemical analysis of geological samples in accordance with written instructions and analytical methods;
- Holds responsibility for the quality preparation of different reagents including acids, bases and calibration standards of various concentrations, by following the work instructions and methods available;
- Holds responsibility for the setting and calibration of various analytical instruments, using reference standards and blanks, and precisely following the available written instructions;
- Holds responsibility for the correct and safe operations of any analytical instrument at the laboratory;
- Holds responsibility to accepts and registers laboratory samples in the logbook;
- Holds responsibility to submit quality assay results and upload them into the laboratory LIMS system in an efficient and timely manner;
- Hold responsibility to record and register all working conditions related to the operation of the laboratory. This includes daily production, standard calibrations, instrument performance, any arising issues during shifts;
- Hold responsibility to use all available PPE and respect all Safety guidelines;
- Holds responsibility for the use of all consumables, reagents, and spares parts;
- Holds Responsibility to follow the shift schedule and working hours which includes working
in three shifts.
Requirements:
- University degree in chemistry (Advantageous not essential);
- Secondary technical education (desirable in chemistry);
- Familiarity with the geochemical laboratory processes and laboratory equipment and instruments;
- Familiarity with the various analytical methods, used in the laboratory;
- Familiarity and compliance with all laboratory MSDSs;
- Familiarity and compliance with the use of all laboratories chemical reagents;
- Laboratory operation (Advantageous but not critical);
- Acid digestion skills (Advantageous but not critical);
- Use of computers: MS office; Word, Excel, etc.;
- Ability to learn new methods and procedures. Follow specific instructions.
- At least 1 year of experience in a similar field (Advantageous but not critical).
