IDC's Personal Computing Devices (PCD) data group in EMEA is looking for a market data analyst to support the expansion of its research and business.
This is a highly visible position that requires the candidate to develop cutting-edge qualitative and quantitative research for IDC's exceptionally diverse base of clients and IT Vendors, to help understand the impact of personal devices and emerging technologies on their business plans and execution. The candidate will work with industry leaders (Apple, Microsoft, HP, Dell, Samsung, Meta, Lenovo, Xiaomi, Google and many others), to identify and analyze strategic business issues and key use cases for a wide range of technology solutions.
RESPONSABILITIES
- Contributing directly to IDC’s quarterly and annual data program into the EMEA Personal Computing Devices market (PC and Tablets) and related programs.
- Collecting vendor sales data, prices and product information on a quarterly basis, gathering key quantitative and qualitative information.
- Producing in-depth analysis of vendor performance and key PC and Tablet market dynamics across the consumer and business markets in Europe.
- Producing comprehensive analysis and documents on the PCD market development (and larger device ecosystem) for research or consulting.
- Publishing quarterly analysis documents outlining EMEA PC and Tablet market dynamics, vendor performance and forecast assumptions.
- Becoming a key analyst interface for EMEA-based clients.
- Providing extensive and high-quality analysis support for inquiries, and/or during on-site client meetings or events.
- Developing strong relationships with various contacts within the industry – PCD vendors and channel partners – at regional and/or local level to better understand vendor strategies and monitor market movements.
- Participating in clients and industry events.
- Supporting consulting projects.
QUALIFICATION
This position calls for someone with a good understanding of the IT market. The analyst will be involved in supporting presentations in webinars and answering direct enquiries on market trends. She/he has good experience in writing research, and presentation skills. Although no previous experience in the IT market is required, this role requires strong interest in the PC and Tablet markets and knowledge of the key players.
- University BA/MS degree in Business, Economics, or Information Sciences.
- Experience in working with large data sets.
- Knowledge and interest in the PC industry.
- Advanced experience in Excel and PowerPoint.
- Analytical, enjoys working with numbers and shows a strong attitude to identify key business trends based on quantitative analysis.
- Outstanding writing skills, able to produce insightful reports based on sound survey or forecast data, providing meaningful recommendations.
- Professional fluency in written and oral business English is required, and fluency in a second European language would be advantageous.
