Position Overview

The Metrologist is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and traceability of all measurement systems and instruments used in production and quality control. This role supports compliance with industry standards and customer requirements through effective calibration, verification, and metrological support.

Key responsibilities:

• Maintain and improve the metrology system to ensure compliance with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and customer-specific requirements.
• Plan and manage the calibration schedule for all measurement instruments and gages.
• Coordinate with accredited laboratories for external calibration services.
• Perform internal calibration and verification of measurement equipment as required.
• Develop and validate measurement methods, procedures, and instructions.
• Maintain and update the metrology database and records in accordance with traceability and audit requirements.
• Analyze measurement system capability (MSA studies, GR&R) and support process control initiatives.
• Support quality investigations related to measurement deviations or nonconforming parts.
• Participate in product development and PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) activities by defining and validating measurement requirements.
• Train and support production and quality personnel on measurement tools and correct usage.
• Participate in internal and external audits, customer visits, and assessments.
• Recommend improvements to ensure measurement accuracy and process stability.

Required qualifications and experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or related field).
• 1–3 years of experience in a metrology, quality, or manufacturing engineering role (automotive industry preferred).
• Strong knowledge of metrology principles, calibration standards, and statistical analysis.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and VDA 6.3 requirements.
• Experience with measurement equipment (CMMs, micrometers, calipers, height gages, etc.) and related software.
• Proficiency in MS Excel; knowledge of SPC, Minitab or other statistical tools is an advantage.
• Good communication skills in English (written and verbal).
• Attention to detail, analytical mindset, and strong problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage priorities under minimal supervision.
• Team-oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
• Knowledge of international metrology and calibration standards (e.g., ISO/IEC 17025).
