The NCR Professional Services PMO Lead is responsible for the European project management function and PS Europe Delivery Methods, providing cross functional leadership of the organization’s project management/methods processes, training and policies to enable strong project performance.

 

The role has two focus areas of Project Management and Global Delivery Methods:

  • Europe PMO Leadership
    • Project Management Processes
    • Project Performance Governance
    • Project Management Skill Development and Mentoring of all those leveraging PM disciplines including but not limited to Project Managers and Program Managers
  • Europe PS Solution Delivery Methods Leadership
    • Delivery Methods Processes
    • Assisting Knowledge Management Director with Delivery Methods Skill Development and Mentoring of all PS staff.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Europe PMO Leadership

  • Assumes a leadership role in educating the Europe PS business community on project and program management processes and areas of expertise.
  • Establishes effective PMO to Project Manager 2-way collaboration, communication and mentoring
  • Advises Professional Services regional leadership and business operations managers about the PS project portfolio and status, including recommendations for delivering strategic PS project initiatives.
  • Initiates and participates in the design and implementation of PSA functionality in support of the PM’s and strong project performance.


Project Management Processes

  • Initiates and implements new project management technologies, methodologies, processes, policies and procedures that will support Professional Services long and short term goals.
  • Monitors and measures the adherence and adoption of effective Project Management processes for consistent project delivery to meet or exceed project targets.
  • Acts as escalation or sponsor in projects that require special attention or monitoring
  • Manages the TEAM report in NCRs PSA system
  • Uses PSA to manage utilization, absorption, WIP and overall key project metrics
  • Reviews, acts and comments on Key Project Reports and Project Status Reports Project Management Governance
  • Proactively assumes a leadership role – Helps from a regional (Europe) perspective to review PS Bid Review as per process and provides input to PS Sales Strategy, RFP responses, solution and marketing requirements, – Identifies and conducts Project Reviews to assess the project health of a project against the key NCR Project Management processes (currently there are 12) – Monthly Governance calls for identification and resolution of underperforming projects Identifies HIP projects and provides commentary for Governance calls Project Management Skill Development and Mentoring
  • Drives the establishment and execution of associated training of project management process, policies and techniques
  • Provides leadership, direction and coaching on project specific tasks as well as individual professional development to the project management community
  • Provides guidance and participation in major project kickoff, closure, and lessons learned Implementing Global Solution Delivery Methods
  • Working with a cross functional team drives the roll-out and evolution of new global delivery methods that support Professional Services long and short term goals.
  • Monitors and measures the adherence and adoption of effective Global Delivery Methods for consistent project delivery to meet or exceed project targets and quality targets.


TECHNICAL / PROFESSIONAL SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:

  • Strong use of MS Office Tools (Word, Excel, MS Project or equivalent, PowerPoint)
  • Working knowledge of project management information systems or PSA systems
  • Expert understanding of NCR PS Project Management processes and familiarity with other industry standards (i.e. Project Management Book of Knowledge (PMBOK), PRINCE II, etc. or equivalent)
  • Strong understanding and experience with software development and infrastructure project delivery approach, techniques, deliverables and lifecycles.
  • Cross functional leadership requires: self-direction, acting strategically, think creatively, building of realistic plans, motivates others, adaptable and fosters open communication and other competencies identified in PS role based competency target skill matrix.
  • Ability to effectively manage time, prioritize work, multi-task across many assignments and delegate to team members; including cross functional team members.
  • Expert level of executive and technical communication including verbal and written skills producing clear and unambiguous deliverables, as well as written business communication skills in corresponding with peers, management, and other NCR departments.
  • Demonstrates the ability to adapt to and lead, change, and coach others in the acceptance and support of change.


SELECTION CRITERIA / QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or related discipline
  • 12 to 15+ years proven track record of project management experience managing medium to large, complex consulting projects delivering custom and/or software product implementations within Professional Services organizations within a product company. Manage a P&L of $50K -1M budget.
  • Desirable but not mandatory - 5 years+ of management experience running a segment of the Professional Services business or equivalent Programme Management. Manage a P&L of $300K - $700K
  • Demonstrated success in management of other project managers or experience on a management level within a project office or mentoring of other project managers and/or consultants.
  • PMP or other equivalent industry-standard project management certification
  • Strong project management competencies and soft skills (i.e. facilitation, conflict resolution, negotiations, executive communications).
  • Strong managerial and supervisory skills, demonstrating the ability to effectively lead others and those reporting into the PMO and / or projects.
  • Demonstrated success partnering with and influencing Region PS leadership, Business Operations, Global PS Office, Learning Group, R&D, etc.
  • Ability to speak at least 2 European languages highly desirable
