Chartwell International School is an international school, whose curriculum is based on the British National Curriculum. The school is accredited as an international school and an examination center by Cambridge and by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of Serbia. Chartwell is more than an academic institution. Its philosophy encompasses the student’s whole personality, and emphasizes balanced development. Our aim is to provide a caring environment tailored to the academic and personal needs of each child. Our five buildings, Nursery-Foundation, Primary and Secondary school are located in the beautiful, quiet, residential area of Belgrade, the overwhelming view of which can be enjoyed from its spacious bright classrooms, with Its park like gardens, encompassing not only, quiet shady areas where the hot spring and summer days can be enjoyed, but also sports fields for football, basketball, volleyball, tennis and a swimming pool. Chartwell teachers come from a variety of backgrounds and experiences but what they all have in common is a love of teaching, an empathy with their students and a commitment to their education. All are well qualified for the role that they play. The essential task of a school is to teach the child to learn, to seek independently and find the knowledge and skills that it needs in all of life’s situations. To do this, it must develop a love of learning in the child, an enthusiasm for enquiry that spills over from school into all aspects of the child’s life. Encouragement and motivation are keywords in Chartwell’s teaching philosophy. Class sizes are small enough for teachers to tailor the curriculum to the needs of each child. All children are different, and all need just the right challenges to make every day an experience of growth and development. This individual attention is an essential part of Chartwell’s approach. At the same time, the student’s ownership of the learning process is assisted by a thematic approach, project work that involves research into several subjects and sets objectives to be attained. Students can achieve concrete results of which they can be proud. Realizing that education encompasses much more than the academic program a lot of emphasis is placed on extracurricular activities which are offered on daily basis and range from sports to fencing, dance, drama, languages. Chartwell students are involved in the life of the community as well by attending workshops, visiting exhibitions, theaters as well as taking part in humanitarian activities. As an all encompassing education includes the social element and the need for children to become more independent which is sometimes neglected or overseen, Chartwell organizes residential trips during the school year giving its students this opportunity as well. There is one residential trip in the primary and two in the secondary school, one of which is a ski trip. We are determined to justify the trust placed in us, improving the quality of our services every year. What proves our success in these efforts is the fact that we started the new school year with the biggest number of students ever.
