Dundee Precious Metals is a Canadian-based, international mining company engaged in the acquisition, exploration, development, mining, and processing of precious metals. DPM operates across Serbia, Bulgaria, and Ecuador with headquarters in Toronto, Canada.
For the needs of our Exploration department in Bor, we are currently looking to recruit a candidate for the Sample Preparation / Fire Assay Lab Technician position.
Role Purpose:
To prepare and perform sample preparation and fire assay on field samples submitted to the laboratory for geochemical analysis, in compliance with the international laboratory standards of quality and within Company standards and procedures.
Description of responsibilities:
- Holds responsibility for performing quality work related to sample preparation of various geological samples submitted, in accordance with written work instructions and methods set by the laboratory.
- Holds responsibility for sample organization and storage in accordance with procedures related to the analytical process at the laboratory.
- Participates in the practical implementation of any procedures/methods related to the improvement of sample preparation and fire assay techniques.
- Holds responsibility for notifying the supervisor if operational problems arise, and work with them to find a suitable solution.
- Holds responsibility to care for company equipment and notify the supervisor if problems arise.
- Holds responsibility to keep both areas in sample preparation and fire assay clean and perform regular cleaning of the working equipment and their related areas.
- Responsible for the proper use of consumables and assay reagents.
- Responsible for maintaining a clean, tidy, and safe workplace, including equipment and work area.
- Responsible for the correct and safe use of equipment and instruments as per given instructions.
- Responsible for notifying the supervisor of any faulty equipment in operations.
Requirements:
- Familiar with the Laboratory operations and equipment.
- Familiar with the sample preparation and fire assay procedures used in the laboratory.
- Familiar with Material Safety Data Sheets of chemicals and reagents used at the laboratory.
- Laboratory operation (Advantageous but not critical).
- Sample preparation (Advantageous but not critical).
- Fire assay (Advantageous but not critical).
- Operation skills of laboratory equipment.
- Ability to learn new methods and procedures. Follow specific instructions.
- Use of computers.
- Secondary technical education.
- 2-3 years of experience in a similar field (Advantageous but not critical).
