Position Description
As a Senior Accounting and Tax Compliance Specialist, you will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with Serbian GAAP, IFRS, and VAT regulations. You will be responsible for the full accounting cycle, with a focus on VAT compliance across jurisdictions. This role is ideal for someone with strong accounting knowledge who enjoys hands-on work, collaboration, and improving processes.
What You’ll Do (Tasks & Responsibilities)
Ensure compliance with Serbian GAAP, IFRS, and internal accounting policies in financial reporting and record-keeping.
Handle Serbian VAT compliance and support VAT returns and audits, in cooperation with internal teams and external advisors.
Support multi-country tax compliance and group-level reporting (e.g. CbCR, OECD BEPS Pillar II).
Manage the accounting cycle: journal entries, invoice processing (including international vendors), reconciliations, and payment runs.
Maintain accurate financial records including general ledger, fixed assets, and bank reconciliations.
Participate in monthly and annual financial statement preparation and audits.
Assist in cash flow planning and vendor payment scheduling.
Contribute to improvements in accounting workflows and internal controls.
Promote a collaborative and transparent finance culture.
Who You Are (Personal Competencies)
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in accounting and tax compliance; Big4 experience is a plus.
Strong knowledge of Serbian GAAP, working understanding of IFRS, and solid grasp of Serbian VAT regulations; knowledge of other VAT jurisdictions is a plus.
Experience with audits and statutory financial statements.
Proactive and detail-oriented.
Strong analytical skills and solid Excel proficiency.
Fluent in English and able to explain accounting/tax topics clearly.
Flexible and ready to take on broader responsibilities as needed.
Team player with a mindset focused on solutions and learning.
