Senior Mechanical Engineer

DPM Metals is a Canadian-based, international mining company engaged in the acquisition, exploration, development, mining, and processing of precious metals properties. DPM operates across Serbia, Bulgaria, and Ecuador with headquarters in Toronto, Canada.

For the needs of our “Čoka Rakita” Project department in the in the territory of the municipality of Žagubica, we are currently looking to recruit a candidate for the Senior Mechanical Engineer position.

Role Purpose:

To provide Mech & Piping engineering services, project management and problem resolution during study, planning (FEL), execution, commissioning and handover phases, to ensure efficient and timely completion of projects in compliance with required standards, Company procedures and Environment, Health and Safety regulations in multinational settings, in accordance with the Serbian Mining law..

 Description of responsibilities:

• Coordinates and manages engineering consultants, contractors, and suppliers/fabricators which are primarily related to the mechanical & piping engineering discipline but potentially also to civil and structural discipline;
• Liaises on a Group level with internal and external project stakeholders.
• Delegates jobs and sets clear objectives for project organization reports;
• Conducts performance reviews of direct subordinates and participates in the performance reviews of cross disciplinary team members.
• Monitors the observance of procedures and ensures compliance
• Ensures continuous development of skills and knowledge of subordinates for achieving safe and efficient work;
• Manages Mechanical, Piping and other engineering design development;
• Manages engineering, projects/field resources and controls project costs to achieve an “in budget” results;
• Creates and monitors project schedules to achieve on time project execution and supplier delivery;
• Prepares or supervises technical and detailed engineering designs for submission to host country authorities.
• Review engineering deliverables; Coordinate with other Senior Project Engineers Inter-disciplinary reviews, clash analysis and resolution;
• Develops, reviews engineering/technical specifications and data sheets;
• Creates or supervises cost estimates and/or bill of materials for project budgets and/or scope definition
• Identifies opportunities to improve processes and efficiencies in the development and implementation of the capital works projects by making engineering proposals and solutions;
• Identifies scope and schedule optimization and cost reduction opportunities. Recommends remedial actions to mitigate schedule delays, scope creep and budget overruns;
• Drafts contract administration correspondence, inclusive of Meeting Minutes, Technical Queries, Work Change Requests.
• Ensures justifications for contractual claims resolution and/or variations during project implementation;
• Prepares engineering, fabrication and installation tender documentation, including but not limited to scopes of works, payment & pricing and construction schedules.
• Technically evaluates engineering consultant, equipment supplies and installation bids and quotations, based on the requirements set out by the tender documentation;
• Interfaces with suppliers, consultants and construction service providers regarding technical matters;
• Ensures supply of equipment/materials and construction activities are conducted as per the relevant specifications and scope of works

Requirements:

• University degree in mechanical engineering;
• Certified Professional Engineer will be an asset;
• Licensed with Serbian Chamber of Engineers is preferred;
• Previous experience in Mining is preferred;
• Minimum 6 years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer;
• Minimum 4 years of experience working on a multidisciplinary international projects;
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as Senior Mechanical & Piping Project Engineer;
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in supervising and directing consultants, vendors, fabricators and contractors.
• Minimum 4 years of experience working with 2D/3D AutoCAD and drafting packages.
