Position Overview
The Senior PARCView Application Analyst is responsible for the support, development, and optimization of Capstone PARCView applications used for industrial data visualization, process monitoring, and reporting. This role bridges IT and operations by ensuring real-time data availability, integrity, and usability for decision-making across manufacturing, quality, and engineering teams. The ideal candidate is fluent in process control systems, has experience working with plant historians, and can deliver robust reporting and visualization tools tailored to operational needs.
Key Responsibilities
System Support & Configuration
- Administer and maintain Capstone PARCView and its associated components, ensuring uptime and performance of real-time process data systems.
- Configure tags, trends, and dashboards to meet end-user requirements for production and quality monitoring.
- Troubleshoot issues related to data collection, display, or system connectivity.
Reporting & Visualization
- Develop and deploy customized reports, displays and dashboards using PARCView tools and scripting functions.
- Work with manufacturing and engineering teams to define KPIs and build real-time visualizations to support operations.
- Ensure data availability and quality for root cause analysis, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Integration & Data Flow Management
- Support integration of PARCView with other systems such as DCS/PLC platforms, MES, SCADA, and data historians (e.g., IP.21, PI System).
- Collaborate with IT and OT teams to maintain secure and reliable data flows between systems.
- Monitor and optimize system performance and data collection infrastructure.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Training
- Serve as a key liaison to production, engineering, and quality teams for all PARCView -related needs.
- Provide training and documentation for end users on dashboards, trends, and reporting tools.
- Conduct periodic reviews with business teams to ensure tools continue to meet evolving requirements.
System Development & Continuous Improvement
- Lead system upgrades, patches, and version changes for PARCView and related systems.
- Recommend and implement improvements to enhance data usability, response time, and user experience.
- Maintain and enforce documentation standards, change control processes, and compliance protocols.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field
Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in process data systems or industrial application support
- 3+ years directly supporting Capstone PARCView or similar plant data historian/visualization tools
- Experience working in manufacturing, energy, chemical, or pulp and paper industries preferred
Technical Skills:
- Strong working knowledge of PARCView application suite and real-time process data analysis
- Experience with SQL, scripting languages, and Windows server environments
- Understanding of industrial protocols (OPC, Modbus, TCP/IP) and control system integration
Soft Skills:
- Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Ability to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Strong documentation and process adherence habits
- Proactive and independent problem-solver with a continuous improvement mindset
