Our partner company in Canada is a structural engineering firm specializing in residential renovation projects in Ontario, Canada. Projects range from open-concept floor plan conversions and wall removals to home additions and foundation reinforcements.  We are seeking a talented Structural Engineer to join our Novi Sad office and contribute to our mission of creating functional and captivating living spaces. This is a hybrid role based in Novi Sad, Serbia, working closely (both in-office and remotely) with our Canadian team and clients in Ontario.

RESPONSIBILITES

STRUCTURAL DESIGN AND ANALYSIS: Design and analyze structural components for residential renovation projects (eg. wood-frame beams, joists, columns, foundations) to ensure safety and stability.

BUILDING CODE COMPLIANCE: Interpret and apply the Ontario Building Code and other relevant standards to all designs and calculations, ensuring projects meet local building requirements.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT: Manage structural engineering projects from start to finish – including initial structural assessments of existing buildings, developing design solutions, preparing calculations, and overseeing the production of engineering drawings.

TEAMWORK: Work closely with our architectural designers and the rest of the team to develop integrated solutions that blend structural integrity with architectural vision, and coordinate with contractors or clients as needed to address structural questions during the renovation process.

DOCUMENTATION: Prepare clear, detailed structural drawings and documentation (using AutoCAD or Revit) for building permit applications and construction, and ensure that all deliverables are complete, accurate, and submitted on schedule.

REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural Engineering (or related field). 3+ years of structural engineering experience.

DESIGN EXPERIENCE: Strong understanding of wood, steel, and concrete structural design and behavior.

SOFTWARE: Proficient in structural design software is a plus (STAAD, Risa, Robot, etc) and drafting software (AutoCAD or Revit)

BUILDING CODE: Ability and willingness to learn various building codes for residential structures, or a demonstrated ability to quickly learn and apply the OBC standards. It is important that the candidate can use the codes in their projects.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT: Proven ability to independently manage engineering projects from concept through completion. Strong organizational skills to handle multiple projects and deadlines.

COMMUNICATION: Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken). Able to clearly articulate engineering concepts and collaborate with English-speaking clients and team members.

TEAMWORK: Willingness to work in a hybrid environment – ​​balancing in-office collaboration in Novi Sad with remote coordination with the Canadian team. Self-motivated and disciplined to thrive in an international, cross-time-zone setting.
