Structural Engineer

Dundee Precious Metals is a Canadian-based, international mining company engaged in the acquisition, exploration, development, mining, and processing of precious metals. DPM operates across Serbia, Bulgaria, and Ecuador with headquarters in Toronto, Canada.

For the needs of our “Čoka Rakita” Project department in the in the territory of the municipality of Žagubica, we are currently looking to recruit a candidate for the Structural Engineer position.

Role Purpose:

Successful project delivery by meeting the project objectives within the constraints of the project budget & schedule while meeting all the safety & environmental requirements.

Participate in the design phase, propose technical solutions and evaluate and coordinate consultants. Oversee the construction phase and ensure a smooth transition from project design to construction and commissioning.

 Description of responsibilities:

• Coordinates and manages engineering consultants, contractors, and suppliers/fabricators which are primarily related structural discipline;
• Liaises on a Group level with internal and external project stakeholders;
• Delegates jobs and sets clear objectives for project organization reports;
• Conducts performance reviews of direct subordinates and participates in the performance reviews of cross disciplinary team members;
• Monitors the observance of procedures and ensures compliance;
• Ensures continuous development of skills and knowledge of subordinates for achieving safe and efficient work;
• Monitors the observance of the procedures by employees and ensures discipline;
• Supports employees’ development of skills and knowledge;
• Manages engineering, projects/field resources and controls project costs to achieve an “in budget” results;
• Creates and monitors project schedules to achieve on time project execution and supplier delivery;
• Prepares or supervises technical and detailed engineering designs for submission to host country authorities.
• Review engineering deliverables; Coordinate with other Project Engineers Inter-disciplinary reviews, clash analysis and resolution;
• Develops, reviews engineering/technical specifications and data sheets;
• Creates or supervises cost estimates and/or bill of materials for project budgets and/or scope definition;
• Ensures compliance with relevant statutory and government legislation, objectives and priorities for tasks undertaken;
• Directs and coordinates relevant project surveying requirements of systems and plant;
• Works with latest engineering documentation and follows DPM standards and specifications;
• Development of work packages and supports construction staff;
• Provides support to Discipline Engineers on plant and equipment;
• Supervise contractor to ensure the accurate execution of all structural/mechanical erection and installation activities in contractor’s scope;
• Co-ordinate all construction activities with contractors to ensure a smooth flow of construction, making sure that all activities are aligned with the construction program and project objectives;
• Develops and/or reviews pre-commissioning, commissioning and performance testing plans for equipment, plants and systems.

Requirements:

• Preferred university education in one or more disciplines of construction (civil, mechanical, structural);
• Licensed with Serbian Chamber of Engineers is preferred;
• Minimum 5 Year experience in mechanical and/or structural field;
• Minimum 5 Year experience supervising structural erection of industrial structures;
• Experience in working on large construction project;
• Experience in structural design and design revisions and control;
• Experience with supervising rigging activities;
• Experience with site welding and painting activities;
• Proficient in lifting activities and lift studies development;
• Ability to interpret vendor and erection drawings, manuals and other technical documentation;
• Good knowledge of English;
• Good time management, teamwork, task orientation and leadership;
• Computer literacy – MS Office;
• Active driver’s license;
• Previous experience in Mining is preferred.
