Structural Steel Erection Supervisor

Location: Site-based, Côte d’Ivoire, West Africa

Roster: 6 weeks on / 3 weeks off (FIFO)

Reports to: SMP Superintendent & Construction Manager

About the Role

The Structural Steel Erection Supervisor will oversee and coordinate structural steel erection activities as part of the gold processing plant construction project in Côte d’Ivoire.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise structural steel erection and assembly activities on site.
• Interpret engineering drawings and ensure accurate installation of heavy steel structures.
• Coordinate and monitor erection crews to maintain quality and safety standards.
• Ensure use of correct rigging and lifting techniques in steel erection activities.
• Promote safe work practices and compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Supervise the installation of plate work structures including chutes, hoppers and bins
• Ensure accurate fit-up, alignment, and welding of plate components as per fabrication drawings.
• Verify alignment, plumbness, and levels of erected steel members using precision survey instruments.
• Ensure temporary bracing, shoring, and stability measures are correctly implemented during erection.
• Inspect weld quality, bolt torquing, and structural fit-up against design tolerances.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum 5 years’ experience supervising structural steel erection in mining, oil & gas or heavy industrial projects.
• Strong proficiency in spoken and written English is required; French language skills desirable with the ability to communicate effectively in a multicultural project environment.
• Fabrication/boilermaker trade desirable
