That is why we require a competent system administrator to join us and help grow our company by expanding the scope of our services. This is a full-time, remote position and requires at least 1 to 3 years of previous work experience in system administration.
Responsibilities:
- Assist our support department and help resolve all server-side issues that our clients may experience, troubleshoot them, and implement fixes in a timely manner;
- Communicate with clients while resolving their issues via ticket, LiveChat (optional but preferable), or a call (optional but preferable);
- Collaborate with system administrators and the management to brainstorm and expand the scope of technical services provided with our hosting plans, including but not limited to DDoS protection, privacy protection, etc.
- Assist with the development of new technical services, their provision, and marketing to existing clients;
- Participate in the development of the new AbeloHost website that will be offering the new services by offering constructive feedback;
- Collaborate with content writers to brainstorm and come up with content ideas for the company’s blog;
- Perform server administration tasks, including user/group administration, security permissions, network troubleshooting, group policies, and resource monitoring, to ensure the network components work flawlessly;
- Ensure system security and implement the best data protection practices.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in technology or computer science (or equivalent work experience in system administration);
- Willingness to work primarily during the evening/night hours and on the weekends;
- High-level English language skills and great communication skills;
- High-level understanding of OC Linux architecture and the Bash command language;
- Ability to perform a variety of basic administrative tasks with disks, network equipment, and software applications;
- Network troubleshooting skills (using mtr, ping, iptables, firewalls, ss, ip, nmap);
- Linux (CentOS 7, Debian 9/10/11, Ubuntu Server 18.04/20.04 LTS) installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting;
- Working knowledge of the LNMP/LAMP stack;
- A good understanding of DNS records and the ability to work with them (nslookup, dig);
- Previous work experience with hosting panels such as cPanel/WHM, HestiaCP, SolusVM, Virtualizor, aaPanel;
- Ability to use VNC and virtual machines on KVM;
- Excellent teamwork;
- Problem-solving mentality;
- Organizational skills;
- Strong attention to detail.
Nice-to-haves:
- Basic understanding of WordPress (setup, configuration, and troubleshooting);
- Previous work experience with Cloudflare;
- Experience with writing Bash/Python scripts.
