Our Infrastructure team in Serbia is expanding to meet the region’s increasing demand for climate resilience, dam rehabilitation, and sustainable water infrastructure. We work across national and international programmes – with a strong focus on IFI-funded initiatives – supporting clients like the World Bank, EIB, and EBRD. With a local footprint and global reach, we’re creating lasting value through Total Design and regional partnerships.
The Opportunity
This is a rare opportunity to lead and grow Arup’s water business in Serbia and the Western Balkans. As Water Business Lead, you’ll establish a local team, drive strategic pursuits in flood resilience, water security, dam safety and water infrastructure, and shape our presence in an expanding IFI-funded market.
You’ll play a pivotal role in delivering Arup’s Europe Water Strategy—combining technical leadership, market insight, and digital innovation to create lasting impact across the region.
As a Water Business Lead at Arup, you will:
- Lead strategic market growth in Serbia and the Western Balkans by identifying and securing opportunities in dam safety, flood protection, and water infrastructure sectors.
- Drive high-impact proposals and project delivery for IFI-funded assignments, ensuring technical excellence and client satisfaction.
- Build and lead a multidisciplinary team, nurturing local talent and growing the practice to a 10-person hub by Year 3.
- Embed digital-first delivery approaches, championing automation, AI, and innovative tools to increase efficiency and quality.
Does this role inspire you?
We're looking for someone who is passionate about sustainable water management, market development, and regional transformation. We also value:
- Experience working on complex water projects, ideally in IFI or donor-funded environments.
- Demonstrated client relationship development and pursuit leadership.
- Proven project management and team-building experience.
- Strong understanding of digital tools and workflows in water design and delivery.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills in both English and Serbian.
