EHS Engineer

The company Toyo Tire Serbia was established in 2019, and construction of a plant started in 2020, with production kicked off in 2022. Job description:

The EHS Engineer is responsible for overseeing health, and safety (EHS) practices within the organization. This role ensures compliance with legal regulations, promotes a safe work environment, and implements procedures to protect employees, the environment, and company assets. The EHS Engineer works to identify potential hazards, minimize risks, and foster a culture of safety throughout the organization.

• Keeps records in the field of occupational health and safety;
• Conducts risk assessments and leads studies on risk elimination;
• Trains employees and participates in organizing safety training sessions;
• Develop action plans for the elimination or reduction of identified risks and safety hazards;
• Actively participates in defining the necessary personal protective equipment and its procurement;
• Coordinates activities related to testing equipment and work environment conditions;
• Plan and deliver EHS training sessions for employees to promote awareness and safe work practices;
• Ensure that new employees are trained on safety protocols and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE);
• Evaluate and recommend necessary PPE for different roles within the organization;
• Ensure proper usage and maintenance of PPE;
• Identifies causes of injuries and defines corrective measures to prevent similar incidents;
• Takes initiative and implements projects and campaigns to reduce the number of injuries;
• Works on the development and implementation of instructions and safety systems for the safe operation of production machinery;
• Regularly report to management on EHS compliance, incident trends, and safety improvements;
• Lead and support safety improvement initiatives across the organization;
• Prepares, maintains, and ensures the effective implementation of HSE policies and procedural requirements;
• Conducts safety audits, communicates analyses, and creates reports;
• Reviews contractual documents (scope of work, responsibility matrix, board of directors, technical project specifications, company standards);
• Manages external contractors;
• Monitors legal regulations and ensures compliance with prescribed requirements;
• Promote a safety culture and work closely with teams to ensure health and safety protocols are consistently followed.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, safety discipline, engineering or technical science or related field or equivalent experience.
• Manufacturing environment experience (3-5 years)
• Passed the professional exam and obtain certificate for performing H&S at work (Certificate of  Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Affairs)
• Strong knowledge of and ensuring compliance with local safety and environmental laws and regulations
• Proficient in risk assessment techniques and safety audits.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and training abilities.
• Ability to lead safety programs and initiatives.
• Good verbal and written English communication skills
• Strong computer skills
