We welcome applications from motivated individuals for the following post at our office in Belgrade, Serbia. The expected starting date is March, 2026 or upon agreement.
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Finance Officer to join our team in Serbia. In this role, you will ensure efficient financial management of projects, oversee accounting and reporting processes, support audits and procurement, and provide HR and administrative assistance in line with local regulations, Head Office and donor requirements.
Main tasks:
- Ensure an adequate, orderly and efficient accounting and financial management of the projects in the country according to the related rules and guidelines of the Republic of Serbia, Swiss Development Cooperation and Helvetas
- Post and process accounting entries to ensure all financial transactions are recorded
- Perform month-end accounting activities such as reconciliations, journal entries, consolidation of financial statements and financial reporting
- Conduct timely Bank payments
- Actively support the budget process of the projects
- Conduct the process of VAT exemption
- Support the monthly financial monitoring and reporting of the projects and quarterly financial monitoring of the Partners
- Support the yearly local Audit preparation, coordination and facilitation of the audit process (preselection, timing etc.)
- Actively support the Procurement process – conducting Risk analysis of potential partners, member of Evaluation committee, commenting/approving of the draft Contracts
- Conduct HR administration – creating Working Contracts, Time Sheets and communication with Payroll company
- Support update of Finance Manual and other manuals - based on changes in local law and Helvetas’ and/or donor requirements and follow up on them
- Participating, supporting and conducting all necessary financial trainings of operational staff and assistance to Project Managers and Country Director; Capacity building of partners on rules and regulations
- Support Office Manager in her/his duties
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum a high school degree in Accounting, Finances, Economics or any field relevant to the scope of work
- Minimum 3 years of work experience in accounting and finance management
- Advanced level of English language, written and spoken
- Good knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, Power Point), accounting software
- Previous experience of working in national or international non-governmental organization and/or national or international donor entity will be considered as an advantage
