HVAC Engineer – Residential and Commercial Construction

Role Overview

As an HVAC Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, installation, and maintenance of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems for both residential and commercial projects. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of HVAC systems and the ability to manage projects from inception to completion, ensuring high standards of quality, safety, and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Construction & Site Management

  • Oversee the installation of HVAC systems across multiple residential and commercial projects, ensuring all work is completed on time, within budget, and to specification.
  • Coordinate with site managers, subcontractors, and other trades to ensure smooth workflow and minimal disruptions.
  • Ensure all systems are properly installed according to industry standards, building codes, and regulations.
  • Planning & Progress Control.
  • Develop and manage detailed project timelines for HVAC installations.
  • Monitor the progress of the HVAC installations, adjusting plans as necessary to ensure timely completion of the project.
  • Provide regular progress updates to the project manager and other stakeholders, ensuring alignment with the overall construction schedule.

Cost & Commercial Control

  • Prepare and review project budgets related to HVAC systems, ensuring the cost-effective procurement of materials and labor.
  • Monitor ongoing costs and make recommendations to reduce expenditure without compromising quality.
  • Ensure all invoicing is accurate and completed on time.
  • Subcontractor & Procurement Management
  • Select and manage HVAC subcontractors and vendors to ensure high-quality work and timely delivery of materials.
  • Negotiate contracts and ensure subcontractor performance meets both cost and quality standards.
  • Coordinate procurement of HVAC equipment, ensuring compliance with project specifications and timelines.

Client & Consultant Interface

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and consultants on all HVAC-related matters.
  • Address any client concerns, ensuring clear communication and effective problem-solving.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to consultants and clients throughout the project lifecycle.

Quality, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure that all HVAC work meets or exceeds the required quality standards, local regulations, and safety protocols.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and ensure that all site staff follow appropriate safety procedures.
  • Maintain compliance with all building codes, environmental standards, and industry best practices.

Handover & Project Close-Out

  • Oversee the final testing, commissioning, and handover of HVAC systems to clients.
  • Prepare and deliver all necessary documentation, including as-built drawings and maintenance manuals.
  • Ensure all warranties and post-installation support are properly handled.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in HVAC engineering, with a strong focus on residential and commercial construction projects.
  • Proven track record of managing HVAC systems installations, including design, procurement, and project management.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC codes, regulations, and safety standards.
  • Experience working with Revit, CAD software and other HVAC design tools.
  • Previous experience working with subcontractors and vendors is a plus.

Core Competencies

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in HVAC design software (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.).
  • In-depth knowledge of HVAC system types, installation methods, and testing procedures.
  • Knowledge of the English language, minimum B2 level.
