Payroll Manager

City: Belgrade

Role Summary:

The Payroll Manager role is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing payroll operations within a centralized regional payroll system based in Serbia.

While the primary focus is on leading and developing a small, high-performing team, the role also involves active participation in day-to-day payroll processes to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
Serbia serves as the main hub for payroll operations, supporting not only the local market but also several countries across the region.

The company manages payroll internally for approximately 3,000 employees as part of this centralized system.
We are looking for an experienced payroll professional with strong leadership skills, a proactive and collaborative mindset, and the ability to balance strategic oversight with hands-on operational engagement in a dynamic regional environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures accurate and timely payroll processing for multiple countries within a centralized regional payroll system based in Serbia.
  • Manages end-to-end payroll activities, including data collection, verification, calculation and reporting.
  • Ensures full compliance with tax, labor and social security laws, as well as internal company policies.
  • Prepares and submits tax filings, statutory reports and all payroll-related documentation.
  • Oversees payroll elements such as bonuses, allowances, overtime, severance and various employee benefits.
  • Maintains accurate and complete employee and tax records, including documentation for foreign employees.
  • Coordinates with internal departments, external partners, and local institutions (Tax Administration, Health Insurance Fund, etc.).
  • Monitors legal changes and implement necessary adjustments to payroll processes and procedures.
  • Participates in projects related to compensation, benefits and payroll process optimization.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of secondary education in economics, law, administration, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in the same or a similar position.
  • Intermediate knowledge of the English language.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Knowledge of the MPP (Mali Poslovni Program) software is an advantage.
  • Experience in regional payroll processes or familiarity with payroll practices in other countries within the region is considered an advantage.
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment characterized by frequent changes, demonstrating adaptability, precision and strong organizational skills.
