Job title: Planning & Network Facilities Senior Manager

Office location: Serbia with Hybrid working (3 days in the office)

About the role and the Team:

You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of our Hyperoptic presence in BT Exchanges and Data Centers. You will ensure they are maintained and remain fit-for-purpose. You will oversee all new build, upgrades and changes, and new equipment installations and removals.

You will provide an audit and quality function for all works, checking the quality of work based on ourrequired designs, keeping your internal Hyperoptic Stakeholders updated, and meeting their requirements.

You will be instrumental in evolving our Exchanges and Data Centers design so we can scale for the future and tailor to individual requirements of various clients.

In addition, you will work with others across the business to optimize spend across Access Backhaul, Exchange Rental & Aggregation Backhaul – while ensuring that capacity is available to meet Hyperoptic business needs.

What will you be doing?

Manage the relationship with Data Centre partners and Openreach (for space and power)

  • Understand the processes to order space power and interconnects with the various partners, ensure that Hyperoptic processes dovetail with the vendors.
  • Understand the inventory of assets at each site, with particular attention to meeting the growth needs of the company while controlling costs.
  • Ensure orders and invoices are appropriately checked and approved.
  • Ensure the right Hyperoptic people have the access rights to attend Data Centre and Exchange sites when needed, in line with partners policies and Hyperoptic business needs.
  • Forecast future needs for capacity and network facilities. Put in place and execute plans to ensure that future needs are met
  • Work with other stakeholders to understand demand over a 2 – 3 year period.
  • Using direct input or extrapolating from previous trends – identify requirements to add (or remove) capacity to meet future growth.
  • Maintain budget estimates that reflect future needs (including scenario planning where appropriate) and feed in to budget setting process
  • Understand the cost drivers particularly across the Access & Aggregation portions of the network, understand how decisions taken on one area can drive efficiency/costs in another.
  • Work with other stakeholders to optimize spend across the network area as a whole to ensure overall efficiency.
  • Develop (or support the development) business cases which optimize overall spend
  • Create regular reporting that highlights utilization across Access Backhaul, Aggregation Backhaul, Inter DC links.
  • Create regular reporting that highlights utilization across Transit, Peering and Cache content.
  • Create regular reporting on other network assets as required (eg Hyperzones card utilization)
  • Develop & operate processes to ensure that capacity bottlenecks are identified and action is taken in a timely manner to avoid congestion or capacity shortages.
  • Develop the people within your team to maintain the appropriate skills mix across the group.

What we are looking for:

  • Previous experience of working in Data Centers & BTOR Exchanges
  • Understanding of cable standards (Cat5e and fibre cabling)
  • Good knowledge of Optical Fibre Technology & Testing
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
