Position Overview:
We are seeking a Project Manager – Technology Scale-up and Transfer to lead the transition of innovative R&D processes into full-scale industrial production. This role bridges the gap between laboratory development and manufacturing, combining hands-on technical engagement with strategic process optimization and cross-functional coordination.
The Project Manager will be responsible for testing, evaluating, and scaling up production technologies and equipment, ensuring the successful industrialization of new processes. The position requires close collaboration with R&D, production, quality, and engineering teams to identify optimal industrial and pilot-scale equipment, perform cost and risk analyses, and develop robust quality control and process methodologies.
This is a hands-on technical management role — ideal for someone who can both operate and analyze complex processes and systems, as well as manage technology transfer projects from concept to production readiness.
Responsibility (Tasks):
- Lead technology transfer projects from R&D to production, ensuring scalability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Conduct process and equipment tests, including direct participation in pilot and production operations.
- Identify and specify optimal industrial and pilot-scale equipment in cooperation with R&D and production teams.
- Develop and implement process control and quality control methodologies suitable for industrial application.
- Analyze manufacturing processes for efficiency, cost structure, and potential risks; propose and validate improvement strategies.
- Collaborate with equipment suppliers to evaluate technical solutions and coordinate technical trials.
- Build and maintain cost models for new and existing processes.
- Identify process bottlenecks, develop and implement corrective actions to improve throughput and reliability.
- Facilitate technical communication between R&D scientists, process engineers, and production teams.
Required Qualifications:
- Degree in Chemical Engineering / Process Engineering, Materials Science, Natural Science (physics, chemistry), or related field.
- Strong technical understanding of process scale-up.
- Strong analytical mindset with experience in cost modeling, risk assessment, and process optimization.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to bridge the gap between scientific and industrial perspectives.
- Experience working with equipment suppliers and technical documentation.
- High level of self-organization, initiative, and practical problem-solving orientation.
- Proficiency in project management tools and software.
- Basic drafting skills and the ability to create simple drawings are desirable.
- Knowledge of VDA 6.3, IATF16949, SPC methods is a plus
- Proven experience in management of projects related to process development.
- Language – English, Serbian – B1 or higher.
