Senior PHP Full Stack Engineer with AI Experience

For our partners from US company FieldFlo, we are looking for Senior PHP Full-Stack Engineer with AI Experience from Balkan countries for full-time remote work via contractor contract (B2B).

Role Summary

We’re seeking an experienced Full Stack PHP Engineer to join our distributed engineering team. This role is ideal for someone with deep PHP and CodeIgniter expertise, who thrives in a fast-paced SaaS environment, and brings a proactive, hands-on mindset. You will be responsible for designing and implementing features end-to-end, managing database performance, and deploying applications on AWS. You’ll collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and DevOps engineers to deliver high-quality software that directly supports jobsite safety and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable web applications using PHP (CodeIgniter) and modern web technologies.
• Write efficient SQL queries and manage relational (MySQL/Postgres) and NoSQL databases.
• Deploy, monitor, and optimize applications in AWS.
• Collaborate with DevOps to work on containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Contribute to frontend development using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and (optionally) jQuery.
• Ensure code quality through reviews, testing, and adherence to best practices.
• Collaborate in an agile, remote-first team, providing input during feature planning and design discussions.
• Drive innovation by designing and deploying AI-powered features and assistants, including conversational and form-filling solutions, and integrate AWS AI services (Transcribe, Bedrock, Polly, SageMaker) to enhance platform intelligence.

Must-Have Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a Full Stack PHP Developer with strong expertise in CodeIgniter.
• Advanced SQL skills with proven experience managing MySQL/Postgres and NoSQL databases.
• Skilled in AWS deployment and cloud operations.
• Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript (with jQuery as a plus).
• Strong communication and collaboration skills in English (written and verbal).
• Experience working with DevOps practices and tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Proactive, self-starter mentality with the ability to work independently in a remote team.

Desired Qualifications (Nice-to-Have)

• Experience with other languages/frameworks such as Node.js, React.js, Python, or Laravel.
• Knowledge of designing asynchronous architectures.
• Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools like New Relic and Datadog.
• Previous experience in startups, SaaS, or IT industries.
• Exposure to automated testing and QA practices for complex applications.
• Understanding of Agile development principles.
• Experience in developing and deploying AI-powered features or assistants, especially conversational or form-filling assistants.
• Experience with building agentic AI assistants that interact with both structured data and unstructured inputs (speech, images).
