Position Summary:  

The Operations Manager is responsible for leading, coaching, and supporting our Subotica Operations team with primary focus on achieving operational goals for revenue and objectives in the areas of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, Productivity, and Cost. The selected candidate will drive and deploy LEAN management principles and tools across Operations. They will lead a growing team of 6 to 20 employees.

In close co-operation with the functional leadership and campus site leadership, the selected candidate is responsible for the day to day administrative oversight of all local BU resources, including Operations, Engineering, Finance, IT, HR, and Order Processing. The selected candidate must ensure that all employees adhere to all Ametek policies and procedures. This role is the primary contact person for the campus management team and local support functions. 

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for Operations including Production (Assembly, Testing), Purchasing, Warehouse, Production Planning, Distribution, for this BU products.
  • Ensure adherence to the highest safety standards by implementation or assisting the implementation of best practices.
  • Develop action plans and drive Continuous Improvement of internal processes in Operations to meet objectives in all the assigned KPIs for Safety, Quality, volumes, delivery dates, inventory, and cost efficiency.
  • Establish, cascade, and review goals across the team.
  • Optimize resource utilization by implementing an effective Production organization.
  • Direct interface and collaboration with other functions such as Engineering, Product Management, and Sales. Ensure close co-operation and influence all relevant support functions to achieve business objectives and customer satisfaction.
  • Lead the deployment of the LEAN culture, methodologies, and processes.
  • Manage team members all throughout recruitment, coaching, individual performance, individual & career development / planning. Drive or participate to strategic actions to continuously improve associate engagement and retention.
  • Responsible for the department budget plan and control. This includes the determination of capital budgets and equipment needs to prepare for long-term capacity and to meet customer demand.
  • Coordinate, set up and implement standard operating procedure for all Operations.
  • In this function, you report directly to the Director Operations of the BU.
  • Ensure that all employees adhere to all Ametek policies and procedures.
  • Drive Safety culture together with functional leaders. Ensure implementation and evolution of safety protocols, ensuring that Health – Environmental – Safety guidelines are followed.
  • Maintain efficient communication between departments, on site with all levels of the organization, and with the BU Leadership Team members and campus site leadership.

Knowledge, Skills & Experiences:

  • Master's degree ideally in Engineering or closely related field.
  • Proven track record in managing Production and Supply Chain including MRP.
  • Management skills and several years of people management (> 10 employees).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities, identify, and address problems, meet deadlines, and stay within budget.
  • English language skills. German an advantage.
  • Sound MS Office and ERP knowledge (Navision as an advantage).
  • Self-initiative, assertiveness, resilience, analytical thinking, sets high standards.
  • Customer orientation, teamwork, and flexibility.
  • Proven ability as a change agent.
  • Comfortable with matrix management.
  • Problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication.
  • Decision-making capabilities.
  • Strategic thinking.

As an advantage:

  • Electronics background a significant advantage.
  • Several years of Operational Excellence experience.
  • Proven, sustainable implementation of LEAN.
  • Experience driving Continuous Improvement activities.
  • Training in Lean Six Sigma or similar experience beneficial.
  • Experience operating in a Corporate environment is a plus.
  • Experience of working in an international environment (US company is a plus)
