Milan Milanović: how to start a career in Cloud?

In this talk, we will explore the basics and learn the benefits of Cloud computing, starting with the origins of the technology. Cloud technologies are predicted to account for more than half of IT spending in 2021, and we can safely assume that most future projects will be cloud-based. So, let's try to answer the key question: What is Cloud and why is there so much hype about it? Let’s demystify some buzzwords! We will also discuss how you can start learning Cloud computing and give you some tips & tricks for starting your own Cloud journey.

Christian Tschenett: a Cloud solution for 20M mobile devices

In the second talk, Christian will share how he implemented the NHS COVID-19 app for the UK as part of an international Zühlke team, with the goal of fighting or at least slowing down the pandemic. The focus is on the cloud backend of the app, which has to be able to reliably provide the 20 million installed apps with the necessary information and had to be integrated with various health system partners to do so. We will take a look under the hood of the backend and Christian will show how we were able to meet the scaling requirements thanks to AWS and serverless architecture.
